Wirra Wirra Church Block (375ml), 2014, Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz-Merlot

Red, New World, Cabernet-based from McLaren Vale, Australia

Full to overflowing with ripe, black fruits and fine tannins. Ideal with pan-seared fillet of beef.

Why we recommend this wine
The blend of Cab and Shiraz is an Aussie invention producing big, bold wines and this is a classic example.

The wine
The Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz-Merlot is deep plum with brick red hues. A succulent core of ripe cassis and black fruits fill the mouth and are balanced with subtle spicy oak characters and velvety tannins. This wine has a wonderful balance of intense rich fruit, fine tannins and refreshing acid structure.
100 Best Australian Wines 2010, Matthew Jukes and Quentin Johnson “I always have a smile on my face when I open a bottle of Church Block because this wine has a cast iron guarantee of excitement. There is inevitably an extra dimension of flavour at its core which leaves you gasping in awe of the extraordinary skill required to assemble these grapes in such style. Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot seem like the original three Musketeers in this wine such as their teamwork, laughter level and lust for life.”

The wine estate
Wirra Wirra's moto is
“Never give misery an even break, nor bad wine a second sip.
You must be serious about quality, dedicated to your task in life,
especially winemaking, but this should all be fun.”
In the vineyards, biodynamic practices are being employed to ensure a healthy growing environment for the vines. Biodynamic practices focus on the balanced, holistic development and interrelationship of the soil, vines, and animals as a closed, self-nourishing system. Wirra Wirra is also committed to minimising the environmental impacts arising from the disposal of used packaging, conserving resources through better design and production processes, and facilitating the re-use and recycling of used packaging materials.
