Chateau Sainte Helène (375ml) 2009 Sauternes

Sweet, Old World, Semillon based from Sauternes, France

Chateau Sainte Helène is produced from young vines belonging to the Chateau de Malle vineyards. The wine is less rich in concentrated sweetness than its more famous Grand Cru sister wine, Chateau de Malle, and is the fruit of a different approach in making great Sauternes: one that strives for youthfulness, freshness and finesse.  With age this half bottle has developed an unctuous sweetness that one would expect from a good sauternes.

The Chateau de Malle is a classified historic monument and is surrounded by magnificent Italian style gardens. It's well worth a tour of the house and gardens if you find yourself in the area. Visit for more details.

Chateau Sainte Helène tastes of honeysuckle, orange peel, cinnamon, honey and especially apricots.
